Bayer Leverkusen are reported to have secured Serbian youth international Aleksa Damjanovic, with a Thursday medical planned and an agreement with Red Star Belgrade worth about €8m including bonuses.
Fabrizio Romano reports the package includes a €5m base fee plus €3m in add-ons spread across a three-year contract. Red Star would receive €1m for any season in which the striker reaches 25 competitive appearances, and a re-sale clause is included.
Damjanovic, who turned 17 in December, has twice won the Serbian youth league with Red Star’s U17s. He scored 49 goals in 47 competitive matches last season.
He has already made 13 Serbian top-flight appearances for Red Star and current loan club Grafičar Belgrade.
The forward is the son of former German professional Jovan Damjanovic, who played for SC Paderborn 07 and SV Wehen Wiesbaden. He has represented Serbia at U17 level and also holds an Austrian passport. Bundesliga rivals Hoffenheim were reportedly keen to bring him to Germany.
