Bayer Leverkusen are being linked with a move for Manchester City’s Nathan Ake this summer, with Atlético Madrid also monitoring his situation.

According to Sportsboom, the 30-year-old centre-back is seeking a new challenge and has interest from, among other leagues, the Bundesliga, with Leverkusen viewed as a possible destination.

Ake is in his sixth season at City and remains important for Pep Guardiola, though the club are looking to refresh their squad.

It is suggested Leverkusen could bolster their defence with the Dutchman, who would offer leadership and much-needed European experience, easing pressure on a young back line.

Atlético are likewise tracking Ake. Their defence is thin with just five centre-backs, and José Giménez has had a bad run of injuries restricting his minutes. If an offer arrives in the summer, a deal could be straightforward.
