Atlético Madrid have accelerated their summer rebuild and, after spending close to 100 million euros, are eyeing a marquee addition before the season starts.

The Sun reports that Atlético are monitoring Jack Grealish, who could leave Manchester City for a low fee as he turns 31 in September. The report also notes he spent last season on loan at Everton and was sidelined for months, with his last Toffees appearance in January. It adds that another Everton loan or a return to Aston Villa remain possible if a Madrid move does not materialise.

Diego Simeone’s side have already secured Morten Hjulmand for 40 million euros, Alejandro Grimaldo for 20 million euros and Kang In Lee for 40 million euros.

The push now is for a statement signing to narrow the gap to Real Madrid and Barcelona in LaLiga.

Kang In Lee already knows the squad number he will wear at Atlético.

With European leagues about to begin, clubs are rushing to finalise squads, and in Spain many are expected to work until deadline day.
