The upcoming World Cup continues to provide plenty to talk about at FC Bayern Munich. Numerous of the record champions‘ professionals will be traveling to North America in the coming days. In the case of Alphonso Davies, however, Bayern have now taken a special measure

After the fierce tensions surrounding the Canadian’s serious injury last year, FC Bayern and the Canadian association seem to have calmed down considerably

As reported by the German newspaper tz, both sides have agreed on a joint plan for Davies‘ return. The left-back will travel to the World Cup, but will be built up carefully

This is quite remarkable, as there were massive disagreements after Davies‘ cruciate ligament injury last year. At the time, the injury was apparently not correctly diagnosed by the association. In the meantime, FC Bayern were even considering legal action

Now both sides are apparently pulling in the same direction again, with Canada’s national team coach Jesse Marsch having recently stated: „I don’t think he’ll be fully fit on June 12, but we’ll see.“

One thing is clear: neither FC Bayern nor the Canadian FA want to take any unnecessary risks with Davies, as playing him too early could not only be dangerous from a sporting point of view, but could also put further strain on the relationship between the club and the FA

Davies will therefore definitely miss the two World Cup test matches against Uzbekistan and Ireland, and his participation in the World Cup opener against Bosnia-Herzegovina is also questionable

For the later group games against Qatar and Switzerland, however, there is hope that the Bayern star will be able to return to action – provided his rehabilitation continues to go according to plan

FCB doctors remain permanently involved

Davies will continue to be closely monitored by Bayern’s doctors before his departure to North America, and those responsible at Säbener Straße will also be regularly informed about his condition during the tournament

FC Bayern clearly do not want to leave anything to chance with their left-back. After the problems of the past few months, the focus for everyone involved this time is on a controlled and smooth recovery.
