It’s finally that time again on Saturday: at the last home game of the season, FC Bayern will be presented with the Meisterschale for the 35th German championship in the club’s history. So the trophy will stay where it belongs – and that calls for a celebration. As in previous years, Bayern will celebrate their title win with the support of partner Paulaner, complete with a cold wheat beer shower or two on the pitch. You can see what that looks like in our best-of video (above) or in the gallery below.

The wheat beer shower has been a lived tradition at Bayern for many years. Its origins, however, don't necessarily lie in Bavarian tradition; rather, according to legend, the Brazilian Giovane Élber is considered the inventor. After the sensational Bundesliga title win in 2000, thanks to some help from Unterhaching, the striker suddenly repurposed a three-litre mug of wheat beer. His first victim is said to have been the then general manager Uli Hoeneß.
