Max Eberl said Kim Minjae was omitted from Bayern Munich’s squad for Sunday’s 5-1 Bundesliga win over Hoffenheim because there was no room in a fully fit group, according to BuLi News.

The Bayern board member for sport called it a luxury problem and noted this would not necessarily be the decision in the next few games. He said rotation could follow if everyone stays healthy.

Eberl explained that Vincent Kompany can now tailor his matchday group to the opponent and the game plan, focusing on what the team might need on the pitch.

For Hoffenheim, Bayern effectively sacrificed a defender, with Konny Laimer available and Hiroki Ito also able to play at centre-back.

It remains to be seen whether Kim Minjae returns when Bayern face RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday.
