Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß is “quite optimistic” that Harry Kane will extend his contract with the club beyond summer 2027.

The 33-year-old striker recently hinted that talks over a possible extension could be accelerated soon, and Hoeneß is expecting a positive outcome.

“I know that Max Eberl and Jan Dreesen [Bayern board member for sport and CEO, respectively] have a very close relationship with the family,” Hoeneß said in an interview with RTL/Sky.

“His father and brother are his agents, and they started initial talks some time ago. None of this is new to me. These discussions usually take a few weeks or a few months, but they are being conducted on a very good personal level. I’m quite optimistic that Harry will extend his contract with us, which would of course be a blessing for us.”

Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl struck a similarly optimistic tone.

“I think he feels comfortable. We’re super happy that he’s with us,” Eberl was quoted as saying by Sky.

“Now it’s about clarifying the details that are part of football. But I think the conditions aren’t too bad.”
