Bayern Munich have confirmed the departure of João Palhinha, who has joined SL Benfica on a permanent basis.
The 31-year-old Portugal international returns to his home country two years after he joined Bayern from Fulham.

“We’ve discussed João Palhinha’s situation openly with him and found a solution that we could all agree on," said FC Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl.
"He’s decided to continue his career in his home country. We thank him for his time at FC Bayern and wish him all the best for the future.”
Palhinha, who spent last season on loan at Tottenham, made 25 appearances for Bayern in total.
