João Palhinha leaves Bayern for Benfica | OneFootball

João Palhinha has completed a transfer from FC Bayern to Benfica. The 31-year-old Portugal international is returning to his home city of Lisbon, where he began his professional career at Sporting CP.

Max Eberl, FC Bayern board member for sport: “We’ve discussed João Palhinha’s situation openly with him and found a solution that we could all agree on. He’s decided to continue his career in his home country. We thank him for his time at FC Bayern and wish him all the best for the future.”

Palhinha moved to Munich from English Premier League side Fulham FC in summer 2024. The midfielder made 25 appearances in all competitions in his first season and won the Bundesliga with FC Bayern. He spent last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
