The next contract poker is looming at FC Bayern. While the Munich club recently brought the months-long talks with Dayot Upamecano to a successful conclusion, the future of Konrad Laimer is now also proving complicated

The Austrian international’s contract runs until the summer of 2027, but those responsible at Säbener Straße are already looking closely at a possible extension. However, talks between the club and the player are currently on hold

Financial differences put the brakes on talks

According to media reports, Bayern have already made the 28-year-old an initial offer to extend his contract, but the player is said to have rejected it

Laimer, who has developed into an absolute regular and key player under coach Vincent Kompany, is said to be demanding a significantly higher salary

According to various reports, he is demanding up to 15 million euros per year. The Austrian international currently earns around ten million euros per year

While contract negotiations at FC Bayern are stalling, other top European clubs are keeping a close eye on the situation

It was only recently announced that Liverpool FC are keeping an eye on the defensive all-rounder. Now the Austrian portal Krone is also reporting that Atlético Madrid have the Bayern professional on their radar. According to the report, both clubs are following the developments surrounding Laimer very closely

Even though Laimer’s contract does not expire until the summer of 2027, Bayern want to find a long-term solution as early as possible. Those responsible want to prevent a scenario similar to the one that recently developed with Dayot Upamecano

If the talks drag on for a long time, there could even be the prospect of a free transfer. Such a move would be nothing new for Laimer, who himself joined FC Bayern on a free transfer from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023

Despite the current pause in talks, an extension is still the preferred solution for both sides

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen how the situation develops in the coming months, as Laimer in particular could have another opportunity to take on a new sporting challenge abroad at the end of his 20s

For FC Bayern, however, the departure of the versatile midfielder would be a noticeable loss – not least because of his consistently strong performances under Vincent Kompany.
