FC Bayern only manage a 2-2 draw at Hamburger SV on matchday 20. The Bayern stars in the FCBinside individual critique.
Manuel Neuer: Cleared with a brilliant save against Hamburg’s Capaldo – the low shot was even dangerously deflected by Upamecano. Neuer couldn’t do anything about Vieira’s extremely well-placed penalty to make it 1-0. Vuskovic’s header to make it 2-2 was also unstoppable. Neuer then prevented the hosts from making it 3-2 with a fist save from Jatta’s cross. Good game from the Bayern goalkeeper. Mark: 2
Josip Stanisic: Somewhat surprisingly back in the starting eleven at right-back after his injury lay-off. Played a very solid game for a long time and also got forward on several occasions. However, he was unable to prevent the cross before Hamburg equalised at 2-2. In the closing stages, Stanisic made too little of an opportunity when he penetrated into Hamburg’s penalty area on the right but then lost the ball. Grade: 3
Dayot Upamecano: Cleared away a lot, had a good duel rate and played good passes in the build-up. In the end, however, the Bayern defence conceded two goals against the underdogs. Mark: 3
Minjae Kim: Didn’t make any mistakes, but played fairly inconspicuously and didn’t have to get into many tackles. 3
Alphonso Davies: Started at left-back. Showed several high-speed sprints like in the old days. But then lost the header duel against Vuskovic at 2:2 for HSV. Davies saved heroically on the goal line when Neuer was already beaten and Vieira had the lead for Hamburg on his feet. That was a great save from the Canadian! Overall for Davies Grade: 3

Joshua Kimmich: Controlled Bayern’s play for long stretches with great vision. Kimmich struck the crossbar with a powerful shot from just outside the box, but then rather clumsily conceded the penalty to make it 0-1. Kimmich was then able to record the assist for Kane to make it 1-1. In the end, grade: 3
Aleksandar Pavlovic: Played a lot of passes, almost all of which were on target, but the international was far too concerned only with security. Pavlovic was unable to add anything to Bayern’s attacking play and was rather submerged. Mark: 4
Michael Olise: Had Bayern’s first good shot in the first half, but was denied by HSV keeper Heuer Fernandes. Olise was very lively in his attacking actions and also worked diligently at the back. Olise set up Diaz’s goal to make it 2-1 with a fantastic pass into the deep area. Mark: 2
Lennart Karl: Missed from a good position against Hamburg goalkeeper Heuer Fernandes after a good pass from Kimmich. Saw little action until he was substituted at the break and didn’t get involved in any decisive actions. Karl fell behind in the Bayern offense. Mark: 4

Serge Gnabry: Set up Kane’s 1:1 with a powerful cross. He was otherwise at his best until he was substituted, but lacked any real impact. Mark: 3
Harry Kane: Defended criss-cross all over the pitch, especially at the start of the game. Was right where a centre-forward should be when he scored the equalizer to make it 1-1. Mark: 2
Substitute
Luis Diaz (46 for Karl): Scored immediately after coming on as a substitute to make it 2-1: Diaz handled Olise’s great pass very coolly. After that, Diaz fought with commitment and also caused a stir time and again. mark: 2
Jonathan Tah (65 for Kim): Had everything under control after his substitution at his old place of work, but wasn’t really called upon to do anything. 3
Jamal Musiala (65 for Gnabry): Didn’t get much of a grip on the game. Only had one action worth mentioning, when Heuer Fernandes deflected his shot away. Mark: 4
