Bayern Munich eyeing move for Barcelona star Dani Olmo | OneFootball

Bayern Munich are considering a January move for Barcelona attacking midfielder Dani Olmo as they prepare for the possibility of losing one of their key attacking players, per Sky Sports.

The Bundesliga champions are keeping tabs on Olmo because clubs elsewhere in Europe are interested in Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise.

If either player leaves, Bayern will have to look for a proven forward, and Olmo is one of the options on their radar.

The 28-year-old has long been admired by Bayern, who have followed his progress since his impressive four-year spell at RB Leipzig.

His existing connections to the German club could also work in his favour.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl worked at Leipzig during Olmo’s time there, while sporting director Christoph Freund previously held a senior position at sister club Red Bull Salzburg.

Olmo’s versatility could make him particularly attractive to Bayern, with the Spain international able to operate as an attacking midfielder or across the forward line.

However, Bayern would need to make a significant financial commitment to secure his services.

Olmo is reportedly valued at around £60m (€70m), and rightly so, as he is one of the best in the world in his position, a European champion and World Cup winner.

Olmo has continued to establish himself as an important player for both club and country since joining Barcelona from Leipzig for £47m (€55m) in 2024.

He began his senior career with Dinamo Zagreb before moving to Leipzig, where he scored 29 goals and provided 34 assists during his four years in Germany.

At Barcelona, Olmo has contributed 20 goals and 20 assists in 96 appearances.

His international pedigree is equally impressive. Olmo has earned 58 caps and scored 12 goals for Spain, while playing a key role in their World Cup triumph this summer.

Barcelona can cope without Olmo, as Pedri and Fermin Lopez are Rodri’s main partners, and they still have Gavi and Xavi Espart to call upon from the bench.
