There will come a day when Manchester City will have to replace Pep Guardiola as manager. Pep Guardiola’s contract expires at the end of the 26/27 season. Based on everything that has transpired this season, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Guardiola sign another contract extension with Manchester City. Guardiola seems reinvigorated for the challenge of leading his team back to the top of English and European football. But at some point in the future, City will have to replace Pep Guardiola as manager.

One manager who could one day replace Guardiola is Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany. A new report indicates that Bayern extended Kompany’s contract to fend off any City interest in luring Kompany to the Etihad. But City may have their eyes on having a club legend replace Guardiola in the dugout in the future.

With new players to manage and new staff to work with, Guardiola does appear eager to lead his side back to the top. If Pep Guardiola remains City manager for a few more years yet, it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.

The day is coming when City will have to replace Guardiola as manager, when that day is no one knows for sure. Despite Vincent Kompany extending his contract with Bayern Munich, it wouldn’t surprise me if Kompany does become Manchester City manager in the future. Vincent Kompany is a club legend at City. His efforts on the pitch in Manchester City’s defence and as a leader saw him establish himself as a club legend. It would be a sight to see Kompany manage the club he helped establish as a powerhouse in English and European football.

Bayern Munich made their move to extend Vincent Kompany’s contract with the club. Christian Falk’s report indicates that City were keeping tabs on Kompany’s progress as a manager. Despite Bayern retaining Vincent Kompany’s services, you do expect Manchester City to continue to monitor Kompany’s growth as a manager and he does loom as someone who will one day manage Manchester City in the future.
