Bayern Munich have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Bayern Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, according to Foot Mercato.
Manchester City and Real Madrid are keen on signing him. However, Bayern have taken the lead in the transfer race.
While the German international has secured a verbal understanding of his future role at Bayern, the two clubs have not agreed to a transfer fee.
Wirtz helped Leverkusen win the league and cup double last season. His performances earned him the Bundesliga Player of the Season award for 2023/24.
Although Bayern may be ahead in the race to sign the Leverkusen star, Manchester City are still interested in signing him.
City are preparing a bid worth over €100 million to test Leverkusen’s stance. They view Wirtz as a key target to boost their midfield options.
Wirtz has bagged 15 goals and 13 assists in all competitions this term. His form has increased the urgency among top clubs to act quickly.
No official figures around the contract, including salary or deal length, have been disclosed.
But Bayern have made the first real move in a transfer race that could heat up over the next few weeks.
