Bayern Munich remain interested in signing Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea after initial enquiries in January.
Chelsea and Nkunku are set to part ways this summer after a frustrating period for the Frenchman in West London. Nkunku has started just 11 league games across two seasons with Chelsea, with fitness and favour issues limiting his impact.
He netted 14 goals in all competitions in 2024/25, though the bulk of his minutes came in the club’s Europa Conference League campaign.
The 27-year-old is keen to move on in search of regular football and Bayern are among the clubs interested. Nkunku shone in the Bundesliga before his move to Chelsea, enjoying four productive campaigns at RB Leipzig.
He won the Bundesliga’s Player of the Season after scoring 35 goals in all competitions in 2021/22 and was the division’s joint-leading goalscorer the following season.
Bayern are set to overhaul their forward line with doubts over the futures of Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman. The German giants see Nkunku as an attractive alternative to Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, who is closing in on a transfer to Liverpool.
Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs has confirmed Bayern retain their interest in Nkunku, who was valued at £60m by Chelsea in January. It appears unlikely that the Bavarians will match that asking price but an approach could be formalised in the coming weeks.
