Bayern Munich set to sign Nico Williams

Nico Williams has set the wheels in motion for a transfer to Bayern Munich as he has signalled his wish to move to Germany, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Spanish winger is under contract with La Liga club Athletic Bilbao until 2027, but Bayern Munich’s management have met with the player and his management to progress a move to the Bundesliga champions.
The release clause is set at €60-€65m and salary demands are around €20m for the Spain international.
Bayern are already in negotiations to structure the deal and it is expected to progress quickly with the support of all parties.
Nico Williams joined the youth academy of Athletic Bilbao in 2013 from hometown side CA Osasuna.
He progressed through the ranks and was instrumental in Athletic Bilbao’s Copa del Rey victory in 2023/24.
Nico Williams shone in Spain’s UEFA European Championship win in 2024 with two goals and an assist, and continued to show his class at club level this season.
In the Europa League, he led Athletic Bilbao to the semi-finals with five goals and three assists, before their defeat to Manchester United and was named in the UEFA Europa League Team of the Season.
Bayern Munich Head Coach, Vincent Kompany is keen to strengthen his attack, and Director of Football, Max Eberl is moving quickly to secure Williams’ signature.
With admirers across Europe, including Premier League contenders, Arsenal, Bayern Munich will be keen to complete this signing as soon as possible.
