By this time, it is well-established that FC Barcelona are in the market for a new centre-back for the summer of 2026.
With Inigo Martinez’s exit leaving a big void, and Ronald Araujo experiencing a difficult time, the Blaugrana see it as a top priority to sign a new defender next year.
Two of the names on the Blaugrana’s wishlist are Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace and Nico Schlotterbeck of Borussia Dortmund. However, competition for both players is intense, which will make it tough for Barcelona.
In fact, according to TZ in Germany (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Bayern Munich have enlisted the help of their superstar Harry Kane to convince Guehi to join them in the summer.
Kane, who interestingly is also a target for Barcelona, appears set to stay put at the Allianz Arena by signing an extension on his current contract, which expires in 2027.

Not only that, the England striker is now trying to convince his international teammate Guehi to join him in Bavaria. The report states that the striker has already spoken with his England teammate about a possible move in the summer.
It would not be the first time Kane has taken on such a role. In 2024, he called Eric Dier, his former Tottenham teammate, to encourage him to join Bayern as well.
Marc Guehi is very much on Barcelona director Deco’s list of possible future signings. However, at the club, there is full awareness that the centre-back is attracting interest from several major teams across the continent.
After all, he will be a free agent in the summer, with his contract at Crystal Palace expiring at the end of the season.
Given the situation, Barcelona do not wish to enter into a bidding war for the 25-year-old defender despite holding an interest in him.
