Bayern Munich Team news

Bayern could hand league debuts to new signings Luis Díaz and Jonathan Tah after their summer arrivals. Diaz has impressed since joining from Liverpool for €75 million, scoring on his debut in the DFL Supercup victory over Stuttgart.

Another new signing, Tom Bischof, will be absent from the midfield as he has to undergo an appendicitis operation.

Aleksandar Pavlović has returned to training after recovering from a fractured eye socket and could feature in the matchday squad wearing a protective mask. The 21-year-old midfielder is expected to have the edge over Leon Goretzka in the pecking order.

Jamal Musiala remains sidelined with a broken leg suffered during the Club World Cup against PSG, while Alphonso Davies is still recovering from a cruciate ligament injury and won’t return until December. Hiroki Ito continues his rehabilitation from a metatarsal injury and is targeting an October return.

RB Leipzig Team News

New head coach Ole Werner will oversee his first competitive Bundesliga match, having joined from Werder Bremen on a contract until 2027. The 37-year-old has already made key decisions, naming David Raum as the new captain and confirming Peter Gulácsi as first-choice goalkeeper over Maarten Vandevoordt.

Xavi Simons continues to be linked with a move to Chelsea but Werner has confirmed he’s “planning normally” with the Dutch midfielder for now. Loïs Openda is expected to lead the attack, perhaps alongside new recruit Romulo, while the fitness of defender Castello Lukeba will be assessed ahead of the match.
