Sport Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) reports that Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane will not make use of the release clause in his contract.
It was reported earlier this year that the 32-year-old has a release clause in his contract in Munich, which has a €65m release clause which must be activated by the end of January to then allow it to be valid for next summer.
Kane believes that winning trophies with Bayern is more important than potentially breaking the Premier League goal-scoring record, which the Englishman’s record would likely be broken by Erling Haaland sooner or later. While Barcelona was never considered a serious option, despite the links.
This season, the England captain is having the best season of his career and currently has 28 goals in 23 games in all competitions.
The Bundesliga leaders plan to begin contract talks with Kane over a new deal. The 32-year-old is said to be open to extending his contract by another year until 2028.
Negotiations between Kane and the club could begin after the World Cup next summer.
