Bayern president Hainer livid with press over Eberl contract saga | OneFootball

Herbert Hainer has denied the media's claims that Max Eberl's contract extension at Bayern Munich took an overly prolonged period of time to complete. 

“I would strongly disagree with the claim that there was a long period of back and forth," club president Hainer snapped back at SPORT1's question.

"That was something you in the press kept portraying. We always said that we would make a decision in August. And in August, we made that decision.

"The fact that you had your own opinions beforehand about whether we would extend with whom and for how long – that’s your business, not ours.

“We acted very clearly at the Supervisory Board level, made the decision in August, and extended both contracts [Eberl and Dreesen] by two years,” the 72-year-old explained.

Regarding Uli Hoeneß publicly giving Eberl a 60-40% chance of an extension before the DFB Pokal final, Hainer feels his colleague was forced into giving that answer. 

“Because you kept asking him about it constantly. But the Supervisory Board, as I’ve said a few times, carries out its responsibilities in a constructive and consistent manner. That’s exactly how we made the decision," he said.
