Bayern push for Kane to win Ballon d'or: "It doesn't matter if somebody from Real Madrid wants their player to be there" | OneFootball

Bayern Munich believe there is “no way around” giving Harry Kane the Ballon d’Or after the England star scored 61 goals in 51 appearances and helped the German giants win the German double during the 2025/26 season.

Kane also played a key role in Bayern’s Champions League run, which ended with a narrow semi-final defeat to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain, before helping England finish third at the World Cup with six goals at the tournament.

For FC Bayern CCO Rouven Kasper, Kane is in a league of his own when it comes to this year’s race for the world’s best player award.

“It can only be Harry Kane. We can just give it to Harry,” Kasper insisted in an interview with Sky Sports.

“We think there is no way around him this year. When you just focus on statistics, there cannot be anybody else. It does not matter if somebody from Real Madrid wants their player to be there.”

Sporting director Christoph Freund is fully on the same page as Kasper.

“I think he deserves to win the Ballon d'Or. He played an outstanding season. It means a lot also for Bayern Munich - when you have one of the best players in the world playing in your team. We will see what's coming, but in the end it would be a great thing for everybody,” he said.

Kane himself recognises that Bayern are doing all they can to help him win the prestigious award.

“I feel the love from this club, I know how much they appreciate me. Not just my goals but I think my all-round game and also me as a person in the changing room as well, the whole package. I feel very privileged and also with the fans, the way they have taken to me in these few years has been really special. My aim is to repay them with some goals and some trophies,” he told Sky Sports.
