Harry Kane has been voted Germany’s 2026 Footballer of the Year, finishing ahead of Bayern Munich colleague Michael Olise.

According to L'Équipe, the award was decided by 695 members of Germany’s sports journalists association in Kicker’s annual poll, which covered all Bundesliga players and German footballers based abroad.

Bayern’s dominance extended to the honours list. The club won the league, the Cup and the German Supercup in 2026, and several Munich players were recognised.

Kane, 33, also claimed his second European Golden Shoe after scoring 61 goals in 51 appearances in 2025-26, and he is the first English winner of this award since its creation in 1960.

Despite being named Bundesliga player of the season, Michael Olise finished second with 203 votes, behind Kane on 272. It is the second straight year the France forward has been runner-up, after Florian Wirtz in 2025.

In other categories, Belgian coach Vincent Kompany was voted coach of the year, and Bayern’s Giulia Gwinn, captain of Germany’s women’s team, retained the women’s award. Bayern completed an unprecedented treble across these distinctions since the awards were introduced.
