Bayern Munich were not interested in signing Manchester City attacker Rayan Cherki during the summer transfer window.
Cherki joined Man City in the summer of 2025 and has registered 13 goals and 18 assists across all competitions.
The Frenchman has produced some eye-catching displays already in the 2026-27 campaign, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
In recent weeks, rumours have been circulating that Bayern were interested in signing Cherki.
Christian Falk has exclusively told CFBayern Insider that Bayern were never interested in signing Cherki during the summer window.
The Bavarian giants were heavily linked with a move for Anthony Gordon, but they ultimately lost out to Barcelona.
After that, they wasted little time in signing Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven. Falk has made it clear that Cherki was NEVER on Bayern’s list.
The Bild journalist said: “It is NOT TRUE: Bayern want to sign Man City star Rayan Cherki. He was not on the list. In the end, Bayern had the idea – as everyone is aware – of Anthony Gordon. However, it was quickly clear that he’d be too expensive when they saw what Barcelona were prepared to do with a transfer fee and salary for the former Newcastle star.
“So, they worked on the Ismael Saibari deal for about a year, and it was also the idea of Vincent Kompany after they played against PSV. He asked Max Eberl and Christoph Freund whether they knew much about the player, arguing that the Moroccan would be a good fit for Bayern’s system. They said he was already on the list and, if Kompany liked him, FC Bayern could go for him.
“So, you see, there was a really early plan for a star like Anthony Gordon on one hand and a player like Saibari on the other, who has a lot of potential. In the end, they had to decide on Ismael Saibari. Cherki was just not on the list.”
At the moment, Bayern have no plans to move for Cherki, who is also happy with his life at Manchester City.
The Bavarian giants have tremendous depth in their attacking set-up, although Vincent Kompany could be slightly worried by the form of Luis Diaz.
The Colombian has looked below par this season and is nowhere near the levels he produced in the previous campaign.
