Leon Goretzka has lost his regular place at FC Bayern – and his future at Säbener Straße is more in doubt than ever. According to the latest media reports, there are many indications that the German record champions will let the midfielder go at the end of the season.

After almost seven years in an FC Bayern shirt, Leon Goretzka’s time in Munich could soon come to an end. The 30-year-old’s contract expires in the summer of 2026, but while the club is already in talks with players such as Manuel Neuer, Dayot Upamecano and Serge Gnabry about a possible extension, there is complete radio silence regarding Goretzka. A silent but clear signal: the midfielder no longer plays a key role in Bayern’s plans.

Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg confirms this trend, stating that there are currently many indications that Goretzka will be leaving: „Current trend, no extension at FC Bayern, but no final decision yet either. Talks will take place between Bayern and Goretzka and his management in the coming weeks.“

Goretzka has lost his regular place under coach Vincent Kompany, who is increasingly relying on Aleksander Pavlovic in the center. Goretzka is fighting for his role, but his prospects at the German champions look anything but promising.

Change in winter? Juventus show interest

The question of whether Goretzka could leave FC Bayern as early as the coming winter break will be exciting. In recent weeks, there have been increasing rumours that the Munich club would not be averse to a departure in January – mainly for economic reasons. A sale in winter would be the last chance to earn a transfer fee before the player could leave on a free transfer in the summer of 2026.

There appear to be several interested parties. In addition to clubs from the Turkish Süper Lig, Juventus Turin in particular are said to be keeping a serious eye on the DFB star. According to information from Italy, the Old Lady is considering a winter bid. A fixed transfer fee of around ten million euros is being discussed – an amount that could look attractive despite the significantly higher market value of 22 million euros, as Munich would come away empty-handed in just a few months.

Whether the transfer goes through in January depends largely on Goretzka himself. Bayern would certainly not put any obstacles in the way of the experienced player. The prospect of regular playing time could be an attractive option for the midfielder, especially with a view to the 2026 World Cup.
