Bayern talent Buchmann suffers another setback and undergoes surgery

Bayern Munich defender Tarek Buchmann, 21, has suffered a syndesmosis ligament injury and has undergone surgery in Bavaria. He will be sidelined until further notice.

The centre-back had only just returned this summer following a loan at 1.FC Nürnberg. Bild has suggested he could be out for around four months.

Any timetable remains tentative, with the length of his absence dependent on rehabilitation progress and the absence of complications.

Buchmann’s development at Bayern has been repeatedly interrupted by injuries, including muscle tears as well as shoulder and foot problems.

This latest setback adds to a difficult run, with his focus now on recovery.
