Manchester United are looking to strengthen their squad in the race for the Women’s Champions League this winter, and one possible candidate is a top performer from FC Bayern

According to The Athletic , Manchester United are apparently interested in signing Bayern star Lea Schüller. Although Schüller’s contract expires in the summer, the WSL club are considering bringing the attacker to the island this winter

Among the reasons for thinking about Schüller are the possible release of Hinata Miyazawa for Japan at the Asian Women’s Championship in March and the pregnancy of midfielder Celin Bizet

Coach Skinner recently made it clear that Manchester urgently needs reinforcements: „We need to sign players who will help the team grow. I hope we can bring in one or two new signings by January. We need three or four reinforcements in total in the winter window,“ said the 42-year-old

Schüller transfer before completion?

„We are hopefully on the verge of signing two players, which would be very exciting,“ Skinner explained before the recent game against Tottenham Hotspur, possibly hinting at a Schüller transfer that is well advanced

Transfers like Schüller should help United „continue to gain experience at a high level of competition“, said Skinner. „Look at the Champions League – tough games, top of the table, and then the quarter-finals again. The standard is high and we need to add to the squad accordingly.“

Schüller has already proven this season that she has what it takes. In nine Bundesliga games, she contributed four assists and three goals. In the Champions League, she scored one goal in four games.
