Bayern Munich have not completely abandoned hopes of signing Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, despite suggestions that an immediate move may not be their top priority.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with the highly-rated attacker ahead of the summer transfer window, with the Reds viewing wide reinforcements as a priority following the confirmed departure of Mohamed Salah.

However, Liverpool are far from alone in the race, with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea all reportedly having monitored Diomande’s progress closely over the past year.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also credited with interest, although neither European giant is believed to be actively pushing for an immediate deal at this stage.

Are Bayern interested in signing Yan Diomande?

We have exclusively reported throughout that Bayern Munich have made signing Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon as their top priority signing in the summer.

However, they do retain an interest in Diomande, who has impressed heavily in his first season at RB Leipzig, where he managed 13 goals and eight assists across all competitions.

Christian Falk have exclusively told CFBayern Insider that while Bayern do not have immediate plans to sign Diomande, they will certainly try to bring him to the club in 2027, if he is available on the market.

Falk says: “It is TRUE: Bayern Munich will try and bring Yan Diomande to Bavaria in 2027 – if they have the chance! These aren’t concrete plans at the moment, given that they’re pushing for Anthony Gordon at the moment. But if he’s still on the market in 2027 in the Bundesliga (if this happens, he’ll sign a new contract with RB Leipzig with a release clause included, which Bayern can trigger), it raises an opportunity.

“I also talked with other clubs in the Premier League and everyone thinks that Diomande is the next big thing. Whether it happens this summer – that remains the big question! The boss at Leipzig, Oliver Mintzlaff, has already insisted he won’t sell Diomande this summer. If he were to instead sign a new contract, then this could be a big chance for Bayern to go again for him. One thing his clear: he’s the absolute dream signing for Bayern Munich, as they expect he’s going to become really, really good. If he’s on the German market, it’s always easier for Bayern to sign him. That would become a different case if he were to sign for a Premier League club.”

Bayern could face competition from Liverpool

The Reds are heavily linked with a move for the 19-year-old, who previously claimed that it would be a dream for him to play for the Merseyside club.

Widely regarded as one of the most exciting young attacking talents in European football, it comes as little surprise that Liverpool are after Diomande, as they need a top-quality attacker to replace out-going Mohamed Salah.

Leipzig value the attacker highly and have reportedly placed an £87m price tag on him, and they are determined to keep Diomande at the club beyond the summer.
