FC Bayern passed another successful test with a 3-1 win over RB Leipzig. Particularly encouraging for the Munich side: the two new signings, Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari, made a successful debut at the Allianz Arena and were directly involved in two goals.

While Nathaniel Brown has been training with Vincent Kompany’s team for several weeks and was able to gain playing time during preseason, Bayern fans had to wait a little longer for Ismael Saibari.

The Moroccan had suffered a torn muscle fiber during the World Cup and consequently missed much of the preseason. Against Leipzig, the moment finally arrived: In the 69th minute, Saibari came on as a substitute for Tom Bischof, making his debut in a Bayern jersey.

It didn’t take long for the 25-year-old to make his mark. With a strong solo run, Saibari set up Jamal Musiala’s goal to make it 3–1, immediately earning his first point for the German record champions.

After the match, the new signing expressed his excitement about his first appearance at the Allianz Arena: “My first game at the Allianz Arena! Thank you so much for the enthusiasm and support,” Saibari wrote on Instagram.

The Telekom Cup was also a special experience for Nathaniel Brown. The 23-year-old was in the starting lineup against Leipzig and repeatedly showcased his offensive qualities on the left wing.

Defensively, however, things weren’t quite flawless yet. When Leipzig temporarily equalized, Brown lost track of Brajan Gruda behind him. The new signing didn’t let this mistake rattle him, though.

After a strong pass from Aleksandar Pavlovic, Brown appeared in front of the Leipzig goal and slotted the ball home to restore Bayern’s lead. The German international was then celebrated for the first time as a goal-scorer in front of Munich’s Südkurve.

For Vincent Kompany, the performances of the two new signings are a positive sign just before the start of competitive play. Brown had already shown during preseason that he is a serious option on the left side. With Saibari, the Bayern coach now regains another important option for the offense.

The fact that both were directly involved in a goal during their first appearance at the Allianz Arena rounded out a successful afternoon. With one week to go before the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund, Bayern’s new signings have already made a strong case for more playing time.
