After suffering two collapses caused by absence seizures linked to a neurological condition during pre-season, Jamal Musiala made his return to action on Saturday as he came off the bench in Bayern Munich's 0-0 away draw with Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga.

Musiala had missed Bayern's first three competitive games of the season after his medication was adjusted following the two collapses, as the club took a cautious approach to his return.

According to Bild, the Bavarians have drawn up a plan to gradually increase the youngster's playing time following his 30-minute comeback in Gelsenkirchen.

A return to the starting XI is not planned for the time being, with Bayern coach Vincent Kompany instead looking to continue giving him playing time off the bench.

The German champions are wary of overloading the Germany international and potentially causing another setback. Instead, they are taking a cautious approach as they look to provide the best possible foundation for Musiala to return to top form.

Musiala is expected to be in the squad once again when Bayern Munich begin their Champions League campaign against Bodø/Glimt on Thursday.
