Talk of Manchester United being keen on Bologna defender Jhon Lucumi is ‘beginning to swirl’ as the future of the Colombian ‘promises to be resolved’ soon amid continuing interest from Nottingham Forest.
Lucumi has been a man in demand for some time and Sunderland made a big push to secure his signature last summer; they have again been credited with interest this summer.
Entering the final year of his Bologna contract, a number of clubs spy a potential bargain and sides from Turkey have already made approaches for the centre-back.
Approaches too have come from Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, but Lucumi has put the Premier League pair ‘on hold’.
He is keen to see if offers come from elsewhere, not least with having had the World Cup to showcase his talents, with Juventus and Inter Milan two potential destinations for the centre-back.

There could though be another of Europe’s giants keen on Lucumi in the shape of Manchester United and if the Red Devils do make a move then it could completely reshape the race.
According to Italian daily Il Resto del Carlino, talk of interest from Manchester United is ‘beginning to swirl’ and Old Trafford could be a hugely appealing destination for Lucumi.
Now that the World Cup is at an end, it is suggested that ‘his situation promises to be resolved’.
Lucumi did have a release clause in his Bologna contract set at €28m, but it has now expired, with no club moving forward to trigger it.

The expectation has been that he could move for a smaller fee and the Colombia international could represent a smart piece of business for Manchester United.
Remaining in Serie A also holds appeal for Lucumi though and if Inter Milan or Juventus step forward then they could quickly become serious competitors for his signature.
Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth appear to only be able to watch on and see if Lucumi is prepared to hold talks if the offers he is waiting on do not emerge in the coming weeks.
Bologna will also be keen on a speedy resolution as they prepare for the new campaign.
