According to L'Équipe, beIN Sports has appealed against a Paris ruling ordering it to pay all sums due to LFP Media for its Saturday Ligue 1 slot, about €15m including interest.

The decision was handed down on 27 January by the Paris economic activities court in a dispute with LFP Media. Unhappy with broadcast restrictions on its Saturday afternoon match, the Franco-Qatari broadcaster had been withholding part of the €78.5m annual fee since the start of this season. It deducted €4.71m from each €18m instalment, three instalments in all, and sought €29m in damages.

The court ordered payment of €14.13m in unpaid balances to LFP Media, covering instalments due on 5 August, 5 October and 5 December 2025, with late interest. beIN subsequently paid roughly €15m after the ruling.

The company has now taken the case to the court of appeal. In a separate dispute, beIN, alongside Canal+, has turned to the court of cassation against the LFP, seeking €660m over alleged disadvantage following the Amazon deal signed in June 2021. They lost in first instance and on appeal but continue in cassation.

From next season, beIN Sports will no longer broadcast Ligue 1. The LFP’s Ligue 1+ platform will show 100% of matches, with a price rise from the current €14.99 a month with commitment.
