“Being sold?” – Rangers fans ‘relieved’ at Danny Rohl’s update for Hungary | OneFootball

The news that Joe Rothwell didn’t travel to Hungary has been greeted with some amusement from Rangers fans.

If ever a signing was absolutely not necessary and utterly rank rotten, it was Rothwell’s arrival from Bournemouth.

Ghost of Barry

As per usual, 99% of Rangers supporters acted like we’d signed the ghost of Barry Ferguson, many bigging the boy up as the saviour of his loan club Leeds United.

Ibrox Noise felt differently – we’d never wanted this guy, and had been adamantly against signing him during his Blackburn days. Rangers were heavily linked at that point too.

But fans believed he was a massive player, and a game-changer for Rangers. Ibrox Noise stood among the minority who knew this was not a good addition.

Panathinaikos

And while a few hipsters in our support claimed he had been outstanding against Panathinaikos (Ibrox Noise disputed that one too) it became apparent thankfully to even them after a couple of months that Joe Rothwell was rotten. Rotten Rothwell.

Nice guy we’re sure but completely out of his depth at Rangers. The fact Bournemouth discarded him to us says a lot; kind of the same vibe regarding Max Aarons.

And when manager Danny Rohl informed fans he wasn’t travelling to face Ferencvaros, there was a bit of amusement.

Sold?

Ibrox Noise ourselves published a piece with the headline that Rangers had received a big boost (the return of Dujon Sterling) and fans quipped ‘Joe Rothwell’s been sold?’.

His signing sums up the desperate Russell Martin and Kevin Thelwell era. EFL slop which has no place at Ibrox coming in player-after-player and bringing the level down ever more.

We’ve nothing against the boy, he’s just nowhere near a Rangers player and we very much hope Danny Rohl agrees and ships him out next month.
