Thomas Frank says he is hoping to add to his squad in the January transfer window.
Tottenham sit 11th in the league heading into this weekend’s match with Nottingham Forest.
The club brought in Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus for big money this summer but Frank says they are still in the market to improve after a mixed season so far.
“I think we will definitely be in the market,” Frank said.
“No doubt about that. We want them as early as possible, like every other time. Let’s see if we can have them before the 31st of January.”
Things have looked brighter at Spurs of late, following a 3-0 win over Slavia Prague in midweek which followed a 2-0 win over Brentford, with a notable performance and goal for summer signing Xavi Simons in their latest Champions League clash.
Tottenham have one of the youngest teams in the Premier League and asked whether he is optimistic that there is plenty more to come from his players, Frank said: “Yeah, definitely.
“I think, again, more or less any successful team or club is a team that’s grown together.
“There is a core of players that either have a specific age where they can add level to the next one, two, three, four, five years. A good example is, let’s say, Xavi, Archie and Lucas. They’re 22 and 19 (Gray and Bergvall), I think. So that would be 24, 24, 27, their peak age in five years’ time.
“And along the way, hopefully, there’s a lot of good performance and results, and it will just get better and better because if they play and they perform and we develop them and we do the right thing, then naturally the team will be better and then they will have a better understanding. They will know each other better.
“They will hopefully care even more for each other. So that means also when it’s really tough, they will run a little bit harder or they will get through the tough spells and all that. So no doubt that any team needs to grow together.”
Frank also reinforced his faith in summer signings Kudus and Simons.
“Right now, I have a squad, in many ways, I’m quite happy with. There’s, of course, things we always like to look into to improve, which I will keep to myself.
“But no, I’m happy, and I think both Kudus and Xavi have shown what they’re capable of, and they’re showing it more and more now.”
