Westerlo had a marginally better season that last year during the regular season, but were then in with a small shot of making it to the play-off for the final European ticket. However, despite coming close, the side have parted ways with Timmy Simons. The board expected more from this season, although how much more could have been achieved is up for debate. Either way, Westerlo have not been afraid to spend money and next seasons manager will be under pressure to deliver more than Simons was able to.
25-year-old Turkish midfielder Dogucan Haspolat was a consistent performer for Westerlo again this season. The former Tranzonsport man grabbed three goals and seven assists in 39 games and will likely be on a number of sides shortlists over the summer. He combined the ability to create with a strong defensive game in the central areas.
Tottenham certainly have a talented player in Luka Vuskovic. The 18-year-old Croatian central defender chipped in with an impressive seven goals in two games. His future may well be further forward, given his ability on the ball and going forward. The defender also created chances for his side and was strong in the air, winning more aerial duels than 86% of the Pro Leagues central defenders.
If Matija Frigan leaves, the side will need someone to replace his 13 goals. They will likely go and sign some more young talent, as they do every summer. Getting a coach that can help them develop will be key if the board are still hoping for a better finish than 8th.
