Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Ben Davies suffered a fractured ankle and will need to undergo surgery.
The Welsh defender picked up the injury early into Spurs' damaging 2-1 defeat at home to West Ham United and is now set to be out for a lengthy spell.
Davies has had a tough time with injuries in recent years particularly with hamstring issues that have seen him miss large chunks of previous seasons.
Indeed, the 32-year-old had to wait until December to make his first club appearance of the season but had started three games for Thomas Frank's side this month.
One good sign for Spurs is that Xavi Simons took a brief part in training ahead of tomorrow's game against Borussia Dortmund.
