Liverpool Transfer News: Reds Offered the Chance to Sign World Cup Star

After weeks of rumours, Liverpool are set for a busy few weeks at the end of the summer transfer window. Under new head coach Andoni Iraola, the Reds are in desperate need of reinforcements after a disastrous title defence last campaign.

Both Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz were wrapped up early, and there could be another few signings still to come. Liverpool are in talks to sign both Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain, which would complete their attacking rebuild.

However, defensive signings are still needed. As it stands, Liverpool head into the new season with just two fit centre-backs in Virgil van Dijk and Jeremy Jacquet and one right-back in Jeremie Frimpong, as Conor Bradley continues to recover from his ACL injury.

One of the names being regularly mentioned is Tottenham Hotspur full-back Djed Spence, who was a standout performer in England’s World Cup campaign.

And now, journalist Ben Jacobs has provided an interesting update on a potential move…

Spence Offered to Liverpool

Speaking to The United Stand, Jacobs revealed that Spence is expected to leave Spurs this summer and has in fact been offered out to multiple clubs.

Jacobs said: “Spence is a name that has been offered around. He has been offered to Liverpool and he has been offered to Manchester United.”

“I’m not aware yet whether the clubs are interested in that deal, but Spence wants to go somewhere and play every week, whether that be on the left or the right.”

“Spence’s side are offering him to Premier League clubs because he can’t be guaranteed to play every week ahead of Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro.”

Spence would be a quick fix to a lot of the problems in Liverpool’s backline. He’s capable of being a solution at right-back, whilst also providing quality depth behind Milos Kerkez on the opposite side.

Any move would likely be decent value too, with Spurs likely to demand a fee in the region of £35m-£40m for the defender, who is under contract until June 2029.

This could definitely be a move to keep an eye on as we head into the final weeks of the window. Good value, versatility, top speed – that’s a lot of qualities that Liverpool look for.
