Benedict Vilakazi offers some advice to Hugo Broos regarding some attacking and midfield positions!

Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Benedict Vilakazi has urged coach Hugo Broos to field Relebohile Mofokeng in the attacking midfield role and Sipho Mbule in a central position for the crucial match against Zimbabwe.

Broos's team will take on their neighbors in a final group stage fixture at the Stade de Marrakech on Monday at 18:00, having beaten Angola 2-1 before suffering a 1-0 loss to Egypt.

South Africa must secure at least a draw to guarantee their progression to the knockout stage of the 2025 AFCON tournament.

Vilakazi, affectionately called 'Tso', insists that the coach must abandon the three-defensive-midfielder strategy that proved ineffective in the recent defeat to Egypt.

"I want to be perfectly clear about this," Vilakazi stated on the SmashSports podcast. "A team cannot function without a creative strategist. We possess players who can fulfill that role. We have Sipho Mbule and Relebohile Mofokeng, who can also operate as a number 10. The idea of deploying three defensive midfielders is something we must move past."

"My approach would be to pair Tebza [Teboho Mokoena] in the defensive midfield position with Mbule in a central creative role and Rele as the primary number 10. It's important to recognize that Mbule is capable of generating chances from deeper areas, as well as in advanced positions. He has the intelligence to move into the necessary spaces."
