Benfica confirmed on Wednesday that Paulo Roxo will leave as head coach of the women’s futsal team at the end of this month.

The club said in a statement that he will not continue next season, noting the deal ends on 30 June, and it wished him well after league and cup successes.

The 44-year-old Brazilian arrived at the start of last season and signs off after one campaign with silverware. His side lifted the Campeonato Nacional and the Taça de Portugal, defeating Nun’Álvares in both finals.

Nun’Álvares prevailed in the League Cup and the Super Cup meetings.

Change extends beyond the dugout, with captain Inês Fernandes already bidding farewell to the club.

Maria Inês and Raquel Santos are also expected to depart during the summer window. Both end long spells of around a decade, having played a major part in the team’s recent period of success.
