Benfica said the accusation was completely false, adding that Rui Costa was not involved in any discussion or physical confrontation with anyone from Real Madrid.

The match itself was marked by controversy, as Vinicius Jr accused Prestianni of racism on the pitch.

Benfica were beaten 1-0 by Real Madrid on Tuesday, 17 February, with Vinicius Jr scoring the only goal at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Eagles now prepare to host AVS in matchday 23 of the Liga Portugal Betclic.
