Benfica have been fined €1,910 after pyrotechnics were ignited in the away end during Monday’s match at Gil Vicente in Barcelos.
The Portuguese federation’s disciplinary committee said the sanction followed the ignition of pyrotechnic devices in the North Stand, sector 5, the visiting section, where five flares were thrown.
The incidents were recorded in the report, and a disciplinary case was opened that led to a financial penalty for the Benfica SAD. Similar incidents have occurred this season.
On the pitch, Benfica won 2-1, with goals from António Silva and Andreas Schjelderup, banking three important points in the league.
They host Porto on Sunday, 8 March, at 18:00 at Estádio da Luz in the 25th round of Liga Portugal Betclic. They arrive on four straight league wins and aim to reduce the gap to the leaders.
