Benfica fined €9,560 over fans’ pyrotechnics at Porto clássico | OneFootball

Benfica have been fined €9,560 for supporter pyrotechnics during the clássico at Porto’s Estadio do Dragao. Flares were thrown from the away section.

According to Glorioso 1904, the Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Football Federation imposed the sanction after the league delegate reported two incidents, at 20:30, the scheduled kick-off, and at 21:06. The second followed Lenglet’s dismissal for a second yellow at 35 minutes.

The Lisbon club were penalised for similar use of pyrotechnics only two weeks earlier at Estadio da Luz against Gil Vicente, a 3-1 home win. That earlier fine was €3,448, taking Benfica’s total across the two cases to €13,008.

Benfica lost 3-1 at the Dragao, in a match that also featured several disciplinary incidents.

In the same case, the Disciplinary Council opened proceedings against Porto over events at the 20 September clássico. Porto were fined €26,822, a figure that includes player sanctions from the match.
