Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly cast a glance at Benfica goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin.
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club have been linked with Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez today on social media.
However, Spurs have no interest in the Argentine and would be looking elsewhere should they want a goalie.
Signing Trubin is not believed to be a priority for the Lilywhites, but it is a deal to watch out for and the Ukrainian would welcome a reunion with Roberto De Zerbi.
The 25-year-old 6ft 6in goalie worked with the Tottenham boss at Shakhtar Donetsk and continues to admire the Italian.
Trubin has proven himself in goal over the years and could be an upgrade on Spurs first-choice Antonin Kinsky.
The Benfica star caught the attention of football fans back in January after scoring a stoppage-time goal in a 4-2 Champions League victory over Real Madrid.
The goal helped secure Benfica’s progression to the knockout play-offs on goal difference, and Trubin made history by becoming the fifth goalkeeper to score in the history of the elite European competition.
Tottenham have enough options in attack as far as goalscoring is concerned, but having a goalie capable of stepping up at the other end if need be will be a huge plus.
Spurs have sold Guglielmo Vicario to Juventus, while they have brought in Martin Dubravka to provide cover and competition for Kinsky.
It is unknown whether De Zerbi will look to strengthen in the position again given the quality options available, and fans will hope they have a squad capable of challenging for silverware after the summer transfer window ends.
