Benfica remain keen on Ibrahima Ba but are unwilling to overspend, with Famalicão’s price complicating a potential deal.
According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica have set a ceiling of 15 million euros, while Famalicão are looking for a figure close to 20 million euros.
Marco Silva is understood to rate the young centre-back highly and views him as a strong fit for Benfica’s new defensive line. Ba is seen as robust in duels, quick in covering depth and with notable scope for development.
Even so, Rui Costa does not intend to stretch the club’s planning for a single signing. Alternatives are on the table and Benfica could pivot to other scouted targets if the current demands hold.
For now the situation remains open and the next few weeks could be decisive. Benfica retain interest and believe a compromise could still be reached, with the standoff likely to rumble on through this window.
