According to Opta, Benfica have lost their favourites tag for the 2026/27 Europa League, slipping to second despite a higher projection.
The competition begins on Wednesday with nine fixtures, followed by nine more on Thursday.
Last week their chance was put at 13.37 per cent. It has nudged up to 13.97 per cent, yet Bournemouth now lead on 14.28 per cent to lift the trophy in Frankfurt.
Benfica open with arguably the sternest league-phase test, a trip to Italy to face Milan, coached by Ruben Amorim and seven-time European champions.
The match is on 16 September at 20:00 at San Siro.
For second-tier Torreense, simply taking part is a reward, and their prospects of reaching the play-off or going straight to the last 16 are minimal at 12.07 per cent, the lowest of all 36 clubs.
