L’Équipe are reporting that Benfica are negotiating a loan deal for Paris Saint-Germain left-back Juan Bernat (30).
Bernat is one of many players who has been training with the “undesirable.” He is in the “loft” and the expectation is that he will leave the club before the end of the transfer window. Benfica, who loaned PSG’s Julian Draxler (29) last season, are now in negotiations with Les Parisiens over a loan move for Bernat.
The defender, whose contract at the club runs until 2025, had attracted interest from Germany, as initially reported by L’Équipe. Bayer Leverkusen, Union Berlin and RB Leipzig were all interested in the full-back, but he now looks set to head to Portugal on the final day of the transfer window.
Negotiations between the clubs are ongoing, and there is hope for a positive conclusion. The Spanish international has played 128 times for PSG since arriving from Bayern Munich back in 2018.
