Benfica ready to file counter-complaint, want Alan Varela punished

Benfica will file a complaint against Alan Varela for an alleged assault on Vangelis Pavlidis in last Sunday’s derby. The incident occurred in the 12th minute, when the Argentine midfielder from FC Porto is said to have struck the Greek forward. The Lisbon club demands that the player be sanctioned. After the incident, play resumed with a dropped ball and referee Miguel Nogueira did not call a foul.
