Benfica intend for João Rego to spend 2026/27 away from Seixal on loan with a top-flight club, according to Glorioso 1904.
The idea is to loan him to a first division side to aid his development in a more competitive setting with more playing time. The club want him to gain top-level experience so he is better prepared for José Mourinho’s squad.
Currently featuring mainly for Benfica B, the player is expected to leave in the summer for a Primeira Liga team. It is still too early to identify his most likely destination.
He has renewed his contract until 2030.
This season he has made 21 appearances for Benfica, across eight in Liga Portugal Betclic, seven in Liga Portugal Meu Super, three in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Champions League and one in the Taça da Liga. He has played 744 minutes, scoring two goals. He is valued at three million euros.
