Benfica sign 18-year-old Deivid Kauan from São João de Ver, run by Dani Alves | OneFootball

Benfica have signed 18-year-old Brazilian winger Deivid Kauan. The club said in a statement that he will link up with the Under-23s.

The Under-23s began the Liga Next Gen with a draw.

He joins from São João de Ver of Liga 3, a team controlled by Dani Alves. The youngster impressed for the Santa Maria da Feira side and scored in Portugal’s third tier.

Kauan is right footed and comfortable on either flank. He is noted for close-control dribbling, strong technique and one-v-one threat, plus his ability to combine and help build attacks.

He said the move is a dream, thanked his family, mother and grandfather for their support, and added that he hopes to give his best.

The addition fits a strategy of backing young players with scope to develop.
