Benfica have a fresh injury worry after Georgiy Sudakov limped off for Ukraine following a heavy challenge from Brodie Spencer in a 3-0 Nations League defeat to Northern Ireland in Group B2.

According to Glorioso 1904, the midfielder appeared to trap his right foot in the turf and may have sustained a right ankle sprain, which could sideline him for a few weeks.

Sudakov had also started against Hungary, a 1-0 match, and was trusted again by Ukraine’s coach. By contrast, Anatoliy Trubin remained on the bench, having impressed earlier against Georgia.

The scare adds to Marco Silva’s problems, with Jakub Kaminski already back at Seixal after being injured in Poland’s first game of this competition. The winger is undergoing recovery work at the club’s training base and is a doubt to face Vitória de Guimarães.

Benfica host Vitória de Guimarães on 11 October, Sunday, at 18:00 at Estádio da Luz, in matchday 8 of Liga Portugal Betclic against Tiago Margarido’s side.
