Benfica have submitted their UEFA squad for the Real Madrid play-off, with indications that José Mourinho will count on the entire squad, including injured players.
According to Record, the list features three notable changes. Winter arrivals Sidney Cabral and Rafa Silva are included, while Rafael Obrador, loaned to Torino, is the only omission.
The deadline was Thursday, 5 February. Benfica avoided last season’s registration squeeze, when a three-player cap led them to omit Bruma in favour of Samuel Dahl, Manu Silva and Andrea Belotti.
Mourinho has kept injured players on the UEFA list, namely Samuel Soares, Richard Ríos, Dodi Lukebakio, Alexander Bah, Joshua Wynder, Nuno Félix and João Veloso. The Colombian midfielder and the Belgian winger are the likeliest to feature against the Merengues.
Benfica, who secured their play-off place by beating Real Madrid, will face the Spanish side again. The tie offers a route to the last 16, where they could meet Sporting or Manchester City.
